the 6th of December

This is a fake St. Nick (kind of like a mall Santa).
P.S. this one is a girl!

On the 6th of December, Saint Nicholas comes and puts candy and toys in your shoes, but only if you cleaned them on the night before.

Parents threaten to beat their kids with these sticks, but it's illegal to spank your kids in Croatia.

Shipwreck

This is a sculpture of a ship in an internet cafe that, sadly, only members are allowed in, but we didn't know, so we were allowed to stay.

euro spotlight: rovinj

This is going to be about the city of rovinj. Rovinj, even though it is in Croatia the language spoken by locals is istriot, a romance language (we thought it was italian, because italian is a romance language as well).

Cool picture. How is it determined that this is the smallest town in the world

the answer is that it has only two streets and sixteen people. it is recognized as the worlds smallest town by the Guinness Book of World Records as the world's smallest town for those reasons

This is a photograph of a castle called Miramare in Trieste, Italy. It was built for Ferdinand Maximilian, who had been emperor of Mexico, but was shot 7 years after it was completed.
This is a photo of a mummified cat that was found in a house's basement in Kastav. It was in a very cool art gallery.

these are the clothes of a WWII survivor, who recently passed away. they are the kind that were worn in nazi concentration camps.

This is a lamp post. The locks symbolize the love between the two owners of the names written on the locks. If one of the people who writes on the lock wants to break up with the other person, then they have to dive to get the key to the lock.

The Croatians do not celebrate Halloween. Instead they celebrate All Saints Day the next day. All Saints Day is very big in Croatia. Here are some photos of what they do on All Saints:

This was a town that we stayed in. It is near Bad Tolz (bad is bath in latin). The tower in the background is actually a church. This is the inside of the church. the town is called Lenggries which means long gries, a long rubble field filled with deposits of debris from the bed of the isar. The  town is actually quite beautiful, and I personally think that it would be a good stop for people coming out of Munich. Also the town was first mentioned  in the year 1220. The people are quite nice here.

this is us in krk. we are getting ready to swim

this is us in pula. the other photo is the closeum in pula

this is hohenswanghou. it was builtby the buvarians. it was the catsle of king ludwig IIs parents.

This is the catsle of Neuschwanstien. it was built by the mad king Ludwig II of buvaria, who was not really crazy, but just very, very eccentric. He liked building castles, but was spending too much of the public's money, so that his cabinet supposedly killed him.
